Sean Flora is the Director of Family & Community Engagement at Global Citizens Public Charter School. As a founding member of the school's leadership team, Sean has served in multiple executive roles, including Chief of Staff, Founding Director of Student Support & Family Engagement, and Founding Director of Operations. Throughout his tenure, he has helped build the systems, partnerships, and culture that have supported the school's growth from its founding to its expansion into a new campus in Ward 6.
In his current role, Sean leads the school's family engagement strategy, student recruitment and enrollment efforts, family-facing communications, community outreach, and strategic relationship-building initiatives. He serves as a key connector between families, prospective families, community partners, and the school, ensuring that every family experiences a welcoming, connected, and mission-aligned school community. Sean works to strengthen family relationships, increase community visibility, support enrollment and retention efforts, and build partnerships that expand opportunities for Global Citizens students and families.
Sean is passionate about creating meaningful connections between schools and communities and remains deeply committed to expanding access to high-quality educational opportunities for families across Washington, DC. As Global Citizens enters its next chapter in Ward 6, Sean continues to champion the school's founding commitment to serving students and families, particularly those east of the Anacostia River, while strengthening relationships throughout Wards 6, 7, and 8.
Prior to his tenure at Global Citizens, Sean served as the Director of Operations at Statesmen College Preparatory Academy for Boys in Ward 8 of Washington, DC, where he joined the organization during its founding year. Prior to that, he served as the Director of Operations at Sela Public Charter School, the District's only Hebrew language immersion public school. Before transitioning into school-based leadership, Sean served as a Management Analyst with the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) during the inaugural years of the Office of Enrollment and Residency. In that role, he managed the District's annual enrollment audit, helping ensure enrollment integrity, residency compliance, and accountability across Washington, DC's public and public charter schools.
Sean earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College and his Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communication from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. He is a proud husband and father of two sons and is honored to be both a founding administrator and a "forever founding parent," as both of his children have attended Global Citizens Public Charter School. A native Washingtonian, Sean is a proud product of the DC Public Schools and DC Public Charter School systems. He is dedicated to ensuring future generations of DC students have access to exceptional educational opportunities.
