Robin Roopnarine, Esq. currently serves as the Eminent Domain Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), where he manages matters related to property acquisition and public infrastructure development across the Commonwealth. He brings more than 20 years of experience in law, finance, and business operations, with a career spanning corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors.
Previously, Robin served as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for Loudoun County, prosecuting felony, misdemeanor, and traffic cases. Before entering public service, he worked with Fortune 500 companies providing internal and external auditing, management consulting, and tax advisory services. A licensed Certified Public Accountant and active member of the Virginia State Bar, Robin brings deep expertise in financial management, compliance, and governance.
Robin has served on finance committees for nonprofit boards, where he reviewed monthly financials, monitored budget variances, and participated in annual audit processes. His broad global perspective—shaped by travel to more than 60 countries—enhances his understanding of international, economic, and social policy issues. He is passionate about advancing international human rights, constitutional and criminal justice reform, mental health and wellness, and equitable access to education and opportunity.
Robin holds both law and accounting credentials and has also served as a substitute teacher for several school districts, reflecting his enduring commitment to education and community engagement.
